Narrative
GRAND RAPIDS, MI – A three-vehicle collision along the highway in southwest Kent County killed one person and injured three others on Wednesday.
The accident occurred shortly before 6 a.m. on the northbound side of US-131 at Leonard Street Northwest in central Grand Rapids.
Police say that a northbound van carrying four people hit a disabled pickup truck along the highway. An 18-wheeler then collided with the van.
Two people from the van were ejected, including the driver, who died at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the name of the deceased.
Medics transported the other three occupants of the van to an area hospital with serious injuries.
Neither of the other drivers sustained injuries in the collision.
It’s unclear if anyone will face charges in connection to the accident.
