Narrative
WAYNE COUNTY, MI – A 33-year-old local woman died Friday morning following a two-vehicle collision in southwest Dearborn that critically hurt a 26-year-old woman.
The fatal accident happened at the corner of Michigan Avenue (U.S. Highway 12) and Nowlin Street shortly before 8:00 a.m.
According to officials, a 26-year-old woman was driving an SUV at a high rate of speed on Michigan Avenue when she failed to stop for a red light at the intersection. Moments later, the SUV collided with a northbound Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by the victim, of Dearborn.
First responders pronounced the Dearborn woman deceased at the scene.
The driver of the SUV, who suffered critical injuries, was rushed to a local hospital. No other passengers were involved and no other injuries were reported.
Local agencies have not confirmed any charges or citations at this time, but an investigation was in progress.
