DETROIT, MI – A 27-year-old man died Saturday in a two-vehicle collision along the interstate in northeast Detroit.
The accident happened just after 7 p.m. on the westbound side of I-94 near Gratiot Avenue, which is west of Chandler Park and south of Gethsemane Cemetery.
The preliminary investigation indicates that two westbound Jeeps collided when both drivers simultaneously attempted a lane change.
One Jeep overturned after hitting the median, and the other left the roadway and struck a tree.
One of the drivers was unhurt in the accident, while the other driver and one passenger sustained non-critical injuries.
Another passenger succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash. Authorities have not yet released his name to the public.
