Narrative
WAYNE COUNTY, MI – Two children, ages 8 and 9, were among the three people seriously injured Tuesday afternoon in Van Buren Township due to a rollover crash involving a reckless driver.
The collision occurred on westbound side of Interstate 94 near Belleville Road, at around 2:00 p.m.
According to Michigan State Police, the children and at least one adult were traveling westbound on I-94 when their car was struck by another westbound vehicle whose driver had crossed multiple lanes while trying to make the upcoming exit.
The crash sent the victim vehicle rolling up and then back down the right embankment before it came to rest on the service drive.
The two juveniles and one adult from the same vehicle all suffered serious injuries. All patients were transported to a local hospital.
No other injuries were reported.
Officials have not confirmed whether the causing driver is expected to be charged or cited for their role, but have said that alcohol, drugs, or medication do not appear to be contributing factors in the case.
